After a protest outside the courts on
Wednesday, the strikers have won the right to mount an effective protest. This
is a victory given the current climate with the State’s aim to crack down on
all protest in its Police Bill.
Message sent to UVW members.
“Last week’s draconian
restrictions against us were dropped after tough negotiations with Great Ormond
Street Hospital (GOSH). We can now protest and picket again in support of the
striking security guards, but with some ground rules.
We had been banned from singing, dancing and waving banners
within 200 metres of the hospital. We can now sing, dance and wave banners
anywhere, but there are some restrictions within 50 metres, including using
amplifiers and sticking to designated areas. We will be seen and heard by the
wealthy GOSH trustees.”
We refer you to the new court order for
full details.
